Speed School & Functional Strength Training

Speed training will focus on running form, explosiveness, core strength, stability, stride rate & stride length, and flexibility. The workouts will include change of direction, agility, and footwork. These same skills are used in lacrosse, baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, and every contact sport. These workouts will be strenuous, and the goal is that players get in shape leading up to their season.

To play sports at a high level speed, quickness, balance, stability, and athletic coordination are a necessity. Building strength in the areas we will focus on will also help athletes avoid injury during competition.

Speed school is open to all athletes. Workouts will be varied for age and ability levels.

Speed School workouts will consist of:

Form Running and Change of Direction

Band Training

Medicine Ball Training and Core Work


Varying Sprint Starts

Speed school will be coached by Dan Deckelbaum. Dan has coached and trained hundreds of athletes on the field and in the gym. Dan is a speed and strength coach with 10+ years experience as an individual and team trainer, former professional lacrosse player and state champion high school coach, and current Director of Lacrosse for MSI, Elevated Lacrosse, and Rising Sons Lacrosse.
